2018 TCS NYC Marathon - 3:43:12

FINALLY! Finally, I got to run the NYC Marathon, the largest marathon in the world and my home race. I can’t believe it took this long, but I was 0/5 with the lottery before eventually taking advantage of NYRR’s 9+1 guaranteed entry. With 9+1, you run nine NYRR races and volunteer for one in a single calendar year. After doing this, you are given a guaranteed entry for the following year. [Read More]

2018 Revel Rockies Marathon - 3:53:38

Three marathons, a half marathon, and a 10k in seven weeks is a great idea? Right? Why not? Enter the Revel Rockies Marathon to round that stretch out. This wasn’t a spur of the moment thing, though, this race has been on my radar all year. I wanted to run eight marathons this year and this was one of the ones I thought might fit into that plan. Plus, because Bitly has an office in Denver, I knew I could schedule a work-related trip to help ease the travel cost of the race. [Read More]

Big Sur Marathon - 3:50:22

Two marathons in thirteen days on two coasts? Sure, why not? I like to make bad decisions so why not go for the Boston 2 Big Sur challenge? This has actually been on my bucket list for a couple of years now so I was really excited to sign up for it and try to tackle it. Though, I will say I’m glad this was one of the years where it was thirteen days between races instead of just six. [Read More]

2018 Boston Marathon - 3:41:19

I don’t even know where to start here. Honestly, 🦄 Boston Marathon 🦄 is just unreal in every way. I’m not even going to try to keep this short. The lead up I won’t go into my training or the media stuff again since I already did, but this day was seven years in the making for me. [Read More]

Boston Marathon Training and Goals

Of course, I saved this until the last minute, but I was a little busy enjoying the hell out of Boston, okay? Anyway, let’s get to it, shall we? Training My training, as per the norm anymore, wasn’t great. It wasn’t the worst thing ever, for sure, but it wasn’t great. I had a really solid training plan in mind, but that went out the window when I started battling a case of runner’s knee. [Read More]

Pre-Boston Marathon Media Coverage

I’m sure you’ve all seen the barrage of news articles about transgender runners who will be running Boston Marathon this year. It’s been nothing less than a flood. And I hate it. Look, I’m obviously no stranger to media attention and I’m sort of used to this kind of thing. It happens every once in a while—not just with running, but I experienced it with the startup I confounded a few years ago as well. [Read More]

This is the fifth post for the 2018 Dopey Challenge. Checkout my recaps for the expo, 5k, 10k, and half marathon. Alright, the last day of the Dopey Challenge! The marathon! My favorite distance!
